This is an historic Grade 1 listed building. It is located at the centre of the market town of Alcester, Warwickshire.
Construction: The ground floor was built around 1618, with the timber framed upper storey completed in 1641.
History: It was originally built as a market hall and later featured as a court with a jail in its basement.
1 INCIDENT SUMMARY:
Paranormal investigation conducted at the above location. This was recommended to the team without significant prior research, the only guidance given was that the property had “a feel about it.” Initial expectations were low, however, the hall produced a number of compelling incidents across multiple categories. This left investigations officers with more questions than answers.
Notable phenomena included unexplained bangs, intelligent trigger object responses, changes in atmosphere following call out sessions and emotionally intense outcomes during a controlled breathing exercise. A historically validated reference to an individual named George further reinforced the integrity of the investigation.
2 OBSERVATIONS AND EVIDENCE:
General Phenomena:
Unexplained bangs heard by officer Rich prior to full team arrival. The source of this was unidentified and served as an initial indication of activity.
Trigger objects:
Cat balls activated on direct questioning. Responses suggested the existence of a potential intelligent spirit.
Old Cell Area:
Call out session conducted by Officers Rich and Conor
Location near old cells area
Atmosphere became noticeably more “prickly” following this engagement.
Rest of the team noticed a heightened sense of unease during this period.
Box Breathing Exercise:
Facilitated by Officer Wayne, with participants Claire,James and Rich.
Conducted safely under controlled conditions.
Physiological and Emotional Responses:
Officers reported feelings of discomfort and agitation.
Inv. Officer Claire when prompted, regarding sensed names, abruptly called out “George” in an angry, curt tone before the question was fully asked.
Historic Validation:
Post investigation research confirmed a magistrate named George associated with Alcester Hall that is known for a violent temperament. This provides strong validation and corroboration of Claire’s experience.
Staircase Area:
Perceived presence
Multiple officers experienced the sensation of being watched while upstairs.
Presence described as curious /observational rather than threatening.
3 CONCLUSION:
Alcester Hall exceeded expectations, producing:
Intelligent responses through trigger objects.
Distinct auditory anomalies.
Strong emotional and physiological effects during structured exercises.
A validated historical connection to the name George.
while activity was not constant through the evening, the quality and nature of the incidents were both compelling and difficult to dismiss.
4 RECOMMENDATIONS:
Further investigation
Revisit the location with a more structured approach.
Prioritise the Old cell, staircase and areas used during the breathing exercise.
Increase use of monitoring equipment such as voice recorders, cameras, EMF detectors and REM pods.
Use multiple trigger objects to cross validate responses.
Historical Review:
Conduct deeper archival research into the magistrate George and other recorded figures linked to the hall.
Controlled Exercises:
Replicate the box breathing exercises under strict conditions to assess repeatability of responses.
FINAL NOTE:
What began as a location approached with uncertainty soon developed into one of the most intriguing investigations of recent months. Alcester Hall provided clear physical responses through trigger objects, corroborated historical validation via the name “George”, and a palpable sense of unseen presence throughout the building.
Whilst the Hall did not overwhelm with constant phenomena, the experiences that did occur were impactful, meaningful, and at times deeply uncomfortable. These qualities often marking a genuine paranormal encounter.
The building left us with more questions than answers, ensuring that Alcester Hall has earned a place on the list of venues warranting further exploration.
