HISTORIC CASE FILE
FORCE: PC Paranormal
LOCATION: The Lord Leycester
DATE/TIME: TBC
STATUS: Active Investigation
INVESTIGATING OFFICERS: PC Paranormal Unit and Guest Investigators.
HISTORY OF THE BUILDING:
Behind ancient gates and timber-framed walls stands one of the most extraordinary surviving medieval complexes in the country and home to hero’s for 450years - it’s a location where history, tradition, and centuries of human stories still live on today.
Dating back to 1126, the site began with the construction of a chapel built directly above a medieval gatehouse. Over time, medieval guilds expanded the complex with the addition of a Great Hall and Guildhall surrounding the ancient courtyard.
In 1571, Robert Dudley - Earl of Leicester and favourite of Queen Elizabeth I, transformed the site into a charitable home for injured and retired soldiers. More than four centuries later, that purpose continues through the resident “Brethren,” retired servicemen and women who still call this historic location home today.
Within the grounds remain:
• Medieval timber-framed buildings
• A 12th-century chapel - 1123
• Guildhall - 1383
• Chaplains Dinning Room - 1425
• The Brethren’s Kitchen -1380
• Masters Dinning room - 1385
• The Great Hall - 1383
• Tudor courtyards and gardens
• Historic residential accommodation
• Museum and exhibition spaces
The site is regarded as one of the finest surviving examples of medieval half-timbered architecture in Europe, featuring a Great Hall virtually unchanged since the 14th century, stained glass, carved woodwork, and corridors steeped in centuries of history, emotion and scandals
(It also happens to look exactly like the sort of place where you would absolutely expect to see a ghost.
PERSONS OF INTEREST:
Over the centuries, the halls of this extraordinary location have welcomed Royalty, Noblemen, Soldiers, Historians, Royal Family, filmmakers, & television productions - each leaving behind another layer of history within the ancient walls…
• Robert Dudley - one of the most powerful men of the Elizabethan era.
• Queen Elizabeth I
• Queen Elizabeth
• King James I
• Charles Dickens
• William Morris
• Percy Shelly
• The resident’s “Brethren” themselves have historically included decorated former soldiers from conflicts spanning centuries of British military history.
Productions:
• Doctor Who
• A Christmas Carol
• Pride and Prejudice
INCIDENT SUMMARY:
PC Paranormal has been granted the rare privilege of investigating this extraordinary historic location alongside fellow guest investigators.
Reports connected to the property include sightings of:
• A wandering monk
• A headless knight
• A Tudor gentleman repeatedly seen within the corridors
• Children running around causing mischief, this is to name a few…
And then… there is THE ROOM.
An otherwise ordinary-looking room with a reputation so intense that we genuinely consider it one of the most haunted rooms in the UK. (I know that’s a big statement but we stand by it)
Historical reports claim even The Queen Mother was warned not to sleep there. Following her stay, she reportedly confirmed the room was haunted and stated nobody should be expected to sleep in it again. Soon afterwards, the room stopped being used for guest accommodation altogether. To this day, reports of poltergeist activity continue.
(Which is both fascinating and slightly concerning depending on how you look at it)
CONCLUSION:
This investigation represents one of the most historically significant and atmospheric locations explored by PC Paranormal to date. Beyond the reported paranormal activity, the site itself stands as a living connection to centuries of British history, service, memory, and human experience.
As a team, we are deeply honoured and incredibly privileged to be trusted with access to such an important historic home, and even more privileged to be able to share that opportunity with fellow investigators joining us for the experience.
Some places simply feel different the moment you step inside them.
This is one of those places. 👻 Date of Investigation will be confirmed soon.

The Four Crosses Inn was built in 1636 from old shipping timbers, some of which are purposed to be over 1000 years old. it was established as a coaching inn to serve travellers on Watling Street. This was an established thoroughfare and was originally one of the main Roman roads in the Uk. It had various additions added over the years and ceased to trade as a public house in 2019. There are many stories related to the Inn from local lore as well as paranormal sources. these have not been verified historically. However the Inn has been featured in several paranormal shows . Most recently “Will and Ralph should know better”. The building itself is set over three floors with a cellar. The cellar has been known to flood due to the water table and there are also attic spaces. There are dark and damp spaces that all contribute to the atmosphere of this location.
The building is now being renovated by the current owners an is very popular with paranormal enthusiasts. Recently a new section of the house has been opened for investigators.

The site is a rare example of a chantry college founded in 1422 by Henry Chichele the Archbishop of Canterbury. A chapel and gatehouse still stand on the site and there are ruins within the walls too. It is used for art exhibitions and events now.
There have been phantom voices heard, screams in the grounds as well as figures from the civil war era. There are also stories of art works moving during exhibitions with no logical explanation.

There is something for everyone, from adrenaline seekers to history enthusiasts and now paranormal investigations.
Armageddon is set over a large site in Husbands Bosworth, Leics. There are multiple large buildings containing superb armoured vehicles, helicopters and military memorabilia. Please see Armourgeddon’s website for more on what they offer. The site itself is on over 200 acres and less than a ¼ mile away is a 12th century monasterial Grange. There is an accent monument at this site. Monks tended the land the site is on. There is also some thought that the battle of Naseby may actually have been fought in this area rather than the present location. It is highly likely that troops massed in this area before battle.
Various Saxon treasures have also been found in the area along with other artefacts.
It is thought there are spirits attached to some objects as well as to the ancient land beneath. See the case file for more paranormal details.

INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING
Tudor world is a living history museum in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. It is located on Sheep Street in what was known as the Shrieve’s House. The museum represents life in Tudor England (approx 1483-1603) through interactive and sensory exhibits. There are all the sights, sounds, smells of Tudor times as well as costumed guides.
Tudor museum is in a timber framed house whose foundations date back to 1196. Most of the building is now Tudor or later, the facade is from 1470 but much of this was rebuilt after the Stratford fire in 1954, it was named Shrieve’s House after William Shrieve, an archer for King Henry VIII, who was its first recorded tenant in 1536. In the 16th century the building was a tavern run by William Rogers. He is believed to have taken inspiration from Shakespeare’s comic character Falstaff. Shakespeare’s daughter, Suzannah, was also a close friend of Rogers’ daughter.
During the Civil War and the battle of Edgehill, the house was used to billet Parliamentary soldiers, then the first mayor of Stratford lived in the building. The house eventually became known as “Falstaff’s House” before later being rebranded as the Tudor World Museum.

Middleton Hall is set in 42 acres of gardens and is an amazing historical location. There has been a building here for over 1000 years. Indeed there are records that show some of it was leased to the Knights Templar.
It served as a family home to the de Marmion family and the Willoughby family who lived there for nearly 500 years. A famous resident was Francis Willughby who was a great naturalist and worked with John Ray Francis to produce several important books.
John Peel, the MP for Tamworth also resided at the Hall. He was a cousin of Robert Peel who set up the Metropolitan Police and there is a small museum dedicated to Policing at the Hall.
It is now run but the Middleton Hall Restoration Trust, a registered charity.
Middleton Hall is renowned for its paranormal occurrences. There is the Grey lady, the most famous spirit, often seen roaming the halls and corridors. She was seen as far back as the 1800’s.
Shadowy figures have been observed on the stair case and moving between rooms.
Unexplained noises: Visitors have reported hearing disembodied voices, dragging sounds and footsteps.
Poltergeist activity: Objects have been known to shift locations, and doors have been seen to slam on their own.
Sensory Experiences: Intense cold spots and a palpable feeling of being watched have been reported.
