PC PARANORMAL CASE FILE:
Force: PC Paranormal
Location: Stoneleigh Abbey
Date/Time: 24/05/2025 - 2000hrs - 0100hrs
Weather Conditions: Clear skies, dry, slight wind.
Investigating Officers: Claire, Nikki, James, Rich, Pete
1. Incident Summary
Paranormal investigation conducted at Stoneleigh Abbey. A Cistercian monastic house dating back to 1154, Stoneleigh Abbey was converted at the Dissolution into a comfortable family home. One of the seats of the Leigh family, Stoneleigh Abbey has played house to several people of note, including King Charles I, Queen Victoria, and novelist Jane Austen. Numerous unexplained auditory, visual, and olfactory phenomena reported by attending officers. Events appeared responsive to investigator activity and call-outs.
2. Observations and Evidence:
Cupboard Door:
Cupboard door was closed and latched by officers.
Shortly after, door reopened without visible interference.
Tapping/Knocking
Multiple taps heard on window shutters
Sounds occurred in apparent direct response to officer call-outs.
Clock Chime:
Clock chimed following a call-out.
Event occurred minutes before the hour; possible coincidence.
Window Shutters:
During lone vigil, one set of internal shutters rattled violently.
Adjacent shutters remained unaffected.
Visual Activity:
Shadow figures reported crossing doorways.
No confirmed human presence in those areas at the time.
Loud Thud:
Heavy thud sound noted in response to call-out.
Source undetermined.
Unusual Odour:
Strong smell of decay detected intermittently in certain areas.
Not all officers present could confirm odour.
Vocalisation:
Loud, clear humming (female voice) heard for approx. 4 seconds.
Sound mimicked vocal scale initiated by officer “James.”
Corroborated by at least three officers simultaneously.
Footsteps/Movement Sounds:
Distinct sound of marching reported in chapel area.
Additional sounds consistent with children running up and down staircases.
3. Conclusion:
Investigation at Stoneleigh Abbey produced multiple unexplained phenomena. While some events (e.g. clock chime) may have rational explanation, others, particularly cupboard door movement, shutter disturbance, and sustained vocalisation, remain without logical cause.
4. Recommendations:
Conduct further investigations at Stoneleigh Abbey.
Deploy additional monitoring equipment (audio/video/EMF).
Consider extended vigils in key hotspot areas (chapel, staircases, shutter rooms).
Final Note:
Officers are of the opinion that there is definitely something that is unexplainable at Stoneleigh Abbey and the site merits ongoing investigation to collate more evidence to present.
